SOUND HEALING

"Sight, Taste, Touch, Hearing & Smell. We rely heavily on our eyes to perceive the world, while we tend to filter out sound, such as the hustle of the city or even a conversation where we are only half-listening. During Brenda’s sound baths, it is encouraged to listen intently to the subtleties in sound frequencies and pitches that come from the large variety of instruments (looks like a mini orchestra with a huge gong, bowls, pipes, to name a few). After attending three sound baths led by Brenda, I have a better sense and appreciation of the healing properties that sound can offer. With eyes closed, lying flat, and an open mind, I allow the sound to pass through me as distinct and unique, fully focused on the present. It is then that I start to feel sensations, like laughter, joy, and even anxiety, all specifically tied to what is being played. Brenda opens her sessions with a song (she has a beautiful voice) and then begins to play instruments, that blend together, creating a story, with highs, lows, and twists before grounding us back to the mat at which we lay. I am dedicated to the practice of meditation, mindfulness, and yoga; I am grateful to have met Brenda and the ability to incorporate her teachings into my ever evolving journey"   - Marc, Restorative Sound Bath Workshop (3x), NYC

“I arrived to her session frazzled from my fast-paced NYC day with the goal of unwinding but my experience was much more than that, it was a transformative, energetic journey. Brenda has a special way of setting the tone of the class before she starts as she transmits a strong, peaceful energy. When she began to play, I kept wanting to open my eyes to see what the actual instruments looked like because they were so unique and pleasing to hear and before I knew it an entire hour flew by. I went to the class with the intention to try something new and to say that I left feeling more grounded than I have in a long time is an understatement. What a beautiful gift to be able to impart on those willing to be open enough to try something new; thank you!” - Lynee, Restorative Sound Bath Workshop NYC

“Brenda's guidance and talent helped me bring awareness to concepts I have been struggling with recently within my meditation practice. Being able to experience a new form of healing/meditation in such a comfortable and supportive environment was a real treat! I hope Brenda continues to share her skills as an artist, healer, and educator with our community and the world at large. Thanks again, Brenda!” - Jaizi, MFA student group sound bath NYC

"Brenda is amazing! My office started offering bi-weekly mediation sessions several years ago. At the time, I thought they were a great way to stop and take some time for myself, and now I find them essential. I was familiar with meditation but not sound/vibration meditation, so it was a welcome surprise for me. The sound bowls, chimes, drum, gentle singing and humming have captivated me. Our sessions during the COVID pandemic were especially important and helped get many of us through some very difficult times. I look forward to our sessions with Brenda, and am grateful my office introduced us to her!” -Lauren A. / VVA LLC (corporate wellness client)

YOGA AND MEDITATION

“I absolutely love that moving to nyc meant living life at a faster pace. The energy is contagious, however there are times I feel even more physically and emotionally drained, so I’m extra grateful for yoga sessions with Brenda. She has done an amazing job accommodating to my busy schedule while structuring the lessons to my restorative needs. Being stuck all day in awkward positions to see patients means I experience a lot of neck, shoulder and lower back pains. She does a good mix of strengthening, stretching and meditation poses. I come out feeling stronger and pampered. I now look forward to my weekly check-ins, and it has been fun to reconnect with an old friend in such a meaningful way! Thank you for providing me a safe, positive and productive environment to learn in!” -Eugenia, private client NYC

“I have noticed that meditating weekly with Brenda has had a big impact on my everyday life because I am able to accept my moods as they are more now. And it's generally really hard for me to do so with the anxiety and all. But now it's like I have a little nurturing Brenda corner within my own brain and it's very grounding!” - Jamie, private client NYC

"Participating in Meditation and Yoga sessions with Brenda Hung has been a rewarding experience. The energy she brings to each session works to comfort and engage each participant while setting the stage for what’s to come. Her voice, quiet, fills the room as your mind begins to hone in on its journey inwards. While 30 minutes of meditation seems like a daunting task, with Brenda it flies by effortlessly, to the point where you wish it was longer. Brenda’s practice not only invites us to ground and learn more about ourselves but also to engage with our community and fellow practitioners. I highly recommend a session with her for not only those who have been practicing for years but especially for those just starting out as her methodology really helps to guide and nurture new students."  - Johnnie, MFA student group class NYC

“I’ve been away from my yoga practice for more than 5 years and living in NYC never really helped with the fact that I had no time to dedicate to myself in getting back into it. Coming to the city pursuing an MFA degree is really stressful and my anxiety attacks started to get more and more intense. I believe that getting back to a mindfulness practice was exactly what I needed. Having a yoga class led by Brenda was really special, not only because she made me aware of the environment I was in but also because she made me feel my body in a much more aware and intimate way. It was a very nice sequence to slow down my mind and work by body at the same time. My breathing rhythm was on point and I could feel my muscles again for the following couple of days. Brenda also has a very great presence and an amazing energy filling up the room. Her voice is very present during the restorative part of the class and she guides us gracefully throughout the end. I am looking forward to having more moments like that.”

- Carla, MFA student group class NYC

“Brenda’s class was a welcome dose of movement and meditation that was very helpful during a busy week in grad school. The class was intimate and focused, and the use of lighting and sound really enhanced the sequence. I definitely would participate again!” - Sara, MFA student group class NYC
